FIFA World Cup 2026 Host Cities: The Complete Fan Guide

March 22, 20269 min read

Profiles of all 16 host cities across the USA, Canada, and Mexico β€” stadiums, fan zones, neighbourhoods to stay in, and how to get around.

Sixteen cities. Three countries. One tournament. FIFA World Cup 2026 is the largest in the competition's history, and the breadth of host cities means fans face both an extraordinary opportunity and a logistical puzzle. This guide profiles each city, identifies the key things to know before you arrive, and explains how to move between them efficiently.

United States β€” 11 Host Cities

New York / New Jersey

MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, hosts the Final on 19 July 2026 β€” the most important match in world football. The stadium is served by NJ Transit trains directly from Penn Station in Manhattan. The city needs no introduction: pre-match neighbourhoods include the Village, Midtown around the stadium bars, and the Meatpacking District for post-match celebrations. New York is a hub for the Northeast bus zone, with frequent services to Boston and Philadelphia.

Los Angeles

SoFi Stadium in Inglewood hosts group-stage matches and knockout rounds. Getting to the stadium from downtown LA requires planning β€” rideshare is the most common option, though the Metro K Line connects Inglewood to the broader network. Fan zones are spread across Santa Monica, Hollywood, and downtown. LA is the West Coast bus hub, connecting to San Francisco and Seattle.

Dallas

AT&T Stadium in Arlington is a short drive from Dallas city centre. The stadium is enormous β€” it holds over 80,000 β€” and Dallas summers are hot, but the stadium's retractable roof and full air conditioning make it one of the most comfortable venues in the tournament. Dallas is the Central zone bus hub and connects to Houston, Kansas City, and cross-border routes to Monterrey and Mexico City.

San Francisco Bay Area

Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara serves the Bay Area. The stadium is accessible by BART to the Warm Springs station with shuttle connections. The city of San Francisco itself is a world-class destination β€” stay in the Mission or SoMa neighbourhoods for easy transport links. Bus connections run north to Seattle and south to Los Angeles.

Miami

Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens hosts group and knockout matches. Miami is a natural fan city β€” the energy, the beaches, and the food scene make it one of the best locations for a full match-day experience. Miami is the entry point to the Southeast bus zone.

Seattle

Lumen Field, home of the Seattle Seahawks, is in the heart of the city and walkable from Pioneer Square. Seattle's weather in June and July is mild and rarely rainy. Bus connections link Seattle south to San Francisco and north to Vancouver.

Boston

Gillette Stadium in Foxborough is about 45 minutes from Boston by car or commuter rail from South Station. The city has a rich sports culture and excellent fan bars around Fenway Park and Downtown Crossing. Boston is part of the Northeast bus zone alongside New York and Philadelphia.

Atlanta

Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta is one of the most fan-friendly venues in North America, with reasonable in-stadium food prices and excellent public transport links on MARTA. Atlanta bridges the Northeast and Southeast bus zones.

Kansas City

Arrowhead Stadium, one of the loudest venues in American sports, is in Kansas City, Missouri. The Power and Light District downtown is the pre-match hub. Kansas City sits in the middle of the Central zone, connecting Dallas and Houston westward.

Philadelphia

Lincoln Financial Field is in South Philadelphia, served by SEPTA from Center City in about 20 minutes. Philadelphia has some of the most passionate sports fans in the USA and excellent transport infrastructure for large events. Part of the Northeast bus zone.

Canada β€” 2 Host Cities

Toronto

BMO Field on the waterfront hosts group-stage matches. Toronto is Canada's largest city and one of the most multicultural in the world β€” the city's fan population for almost every competing nation is significant. Bus connections link Toronto to the US Northeast via the Niagara border crossing.

Vancouver

BC Place in downtown Vancouver is one of the most scenic stadium settings in the tournament, with mountain views from upper tiers. Vancouver connects south by bus to Seattle for fans travelling the Pacific coast corridor.

Mexico β€” 3 Host Cities

Mexico City

Estadio Azteca is the most storied stadium in football history, having hosted two World Cup Finals. The atmosphere for any match here will be unlike anywhere else in the tournament. Mexico City is the heart of the Mexican bus zone, with connections to Guadalajara and Monterrey.

Guadalajara

Estadio Akron is a striking modern stadium in the western suburbs of Guadalajara. The city has a strong footballing culture and excellent street food scene. Bus services connect Guadalajara to Mexico City and direct routes exist to Texas cities for fans crossing the border.

Monterrey

Estadio BBVA in San Pedro Garza GarcΓa has mountain views and a passionate local fan base. Monterrey is the closest Mexican city to the US border β€” Houston is the key connection, roughly six hours by bus β€” making it the natural entry point for US-based fans attending Mexican venue matches.
